Dear reader, let me spin you a tale of wonder and delight! If you're looking for a book that will transport you to a magical realm where dreams come true and castles float in the sky, then Mary Draper Dreams of Castles in the Sky is just the ticket!

Follow the intrepid Mary as she sets out on a whimsical adventure, encountering talking cats, roller coaster rides on the city rows, and a host of other worldly beings. Along the way, she discovers that anything is possible if you just believe in yourself and the power of your dreams.

But the adventure doesn't end there, dear reader! For you see, Mary's tale is not just a story to be read, but a journey to be lived. At the end of Park Street, the children discover The Wishing Steps.

"Take a deep breath!"

Now, there might be some discrepancies about the legend, but some folks swear that if you take a deep breath at the foot of the steps and run to the top, down again, and back up without breathing, your wish will come true. Not too shabby, right?

In the time-traveling children's story, Mary zips back to 1899. Tom finds out that running up and down the steps twice while holding your breath can conjure some amazing things, like much-needed feastables and weavables! But let's be real, Tom and Maud were dumbfounded when Mary conjured up a radio and wondered how the man got inside it, them being from another era and all that! Tom even tried to wish for riches, but no chance, folks. Having said that, the Ferrari was a bit of a luxury that Tom and Maud had never seen the likes before. That's just Mary's wild sleep-o-ramas taking over!

So, pack up your little ones and take them to the Wishing Steps in Chester, where they can make their own wishes and watch as they come true before their very eyes. Let them climb the steps and whisper their heart's desires to the universe, and then sit back and marvel as their dreams take flight, just like Mary's castle in the sky.

So why should you read Mary Draper Dreams of Castles in the Sky and visit the Wishing Steps in Chester? Because life is too short not to indulge in a little magic and wonder. Because sometimes, in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we forget that anything is possible if we just dare to dream. And because, at the end of the day, what could be more important than passing on that sense of childlike wonder and imagination to the next generation?

So come along, dear reader, and let us venture forth to a world of castles in the sky and wishes come true. Who knows what adventures and magic await us there?

"The Eastgate Clock is undoubtedly one of my favourite historical landmarks in Cheshire."

The Eastgate Clock, situated in Chester, England, is a well-known and highly recognisable landmark that has captivated the imagination of many over the years. Its construction in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee has transformed it into a symbol of the city's rich cultural heritage and historical significance.

The clock has served as a source of inspiration for writers and storytellers of all ages, providing a captivating backdrop for tales of adventure, mystery, and romance. As a children's author, I am no exception to this rule, having been inspired by its beauty on multiple occasions. It is said that before the clocks four faces were covered by glass, tourists would frequently steal its hands as souvenirs, and this story served as the inspiration for my book, The Little Big Clockmaker. In this story, the clock functions as a type of time machine, with the removal and replacement of its hands transporting the clockmaker through time.

The Eastgate Clock is also a key plot element in my mystery novel, Mary Draper Dreams of Castles in the Sky. Set in 1899, the book portrays the clock being unveiled by the Duke of Meadowsville. The character of Charles Beaumont, the guardian of the 'The Quigley Tiara of Deva' located in Agricola Tower at Chester Castle, typically winds the Eastgate Clock's mechanism but disappears mysteriously. The Eastgate Clock is not the only iconic landmark featured in this book, with others including The Rows, the ancient Roman walls, The Wishing Steps, The Nine Houses, and much more, taking readers on an unforgettable journey through Chester.

As a writer, I never run out of story ideas as I rely on the rich history and iconic landmarks in my surroundings. The Eastgate Clock is undoubtedly one of my favourite historical landmarks in Cheshire and is a must-see for anyone who loves history and storytelling. This is why I encourage you to read my stories then go and visit the locations!
